Natalia Ginzburg is classic Italian writing at its best. 'Family Lexicon' is a loosely fictionalised account of her life in post-war Italy, following the cultural and political events taking place as she narrates the family dynamics that shaped her life.

It is funny and full of wonderful eccentricities that come from language and lively characters. Her writing is so carefully crafted but full of wisdom and verve. Ginzburg was a key literary influence for writers like Ferrante. A must read!
